Crnadak and Lajčak on the situation in BiH and region as well as forming new EC

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 6 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Crnadak, spoke with Slovak Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairman Miroslav Lajčak, on the second day of his official visit to Slovak Republic.

Crnadak and Lajčak discussed the situation in BiH and region, as well as the process of forming a new European Commission.

The ministers agreed that it is necessary to form BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of the FBiH as soon as possible so that BiH is fully prepared to implement the European Commission's recommendations and continue the European path.

As the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, Crnadak said that after yesterday's "definitive end of the SNSD, HDZ and SDA agreement, it is not clear whether these three political parties, which have been unsuccessfully negotiating for ten months, will continue to lead this process.” He said there is no way out of this situation at the moment, nor any other solution.

BiH Foreign Minister urged Lajčak to help BiH to unblock the work of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, together with European structures that have lately supported government formation talks. The minister stressed that there was no reason for the blockade and pointed to the fact that due to the lack of functioning of the parliament, a large number of financial arrangements that directly affect daily life of citizens are blocked, as well.

The two officials also discussed OSCE activities and priorities during the Slovak Presidency, as well as the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Report on the 2018 BiH General Election.

Minister Crnadak stressed the need to implement election recommendations from that report as soon as possible, which identified numerous irregularities, BiH MoFA stated.
