US Embassy ready to support capacity building of Service for Foreigners’ Affairs

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 5 (FENA) - Philip Nazelrod, newly appointed Security Attaché at the United States Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, spoke with Director of Service for Foreigners’ Affairs Slobodan Ujić, and wished him successful work for the next three years in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Nazelrod commends the efforts of the Service, emphasized its importance and expressed confidence that cooperation will continue. The US Embassy is ready to support the capacity building of the Service, especially with regard to the fight against terrorism and illegal migration in BiH,” the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs stated.

At a meeting, Ujić informed Nazelrod about the organizational structure and competences of the Service, the role it plays in the security system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the situation in the area of migration, with reference to increased influx of migrants into BiH.

“About 19.000 migrants have been in the scope of work of the Service since the beginning of 2019. Through their registration and biometric data collection, the Service makes a significant contribution to the security of BiH and its citizens,” the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs said.

The cooperation of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs and representatives of the US administration in BiH was emphasized, which resulted in the identification and finding of more persons who are a threat to the BiH’s security.
