GORAŽDE, September 5 (FENA) - The first meters of the Hranjen tunnel as part of the future section of the Goražde - Sarajevo expressway will be dug in the coming days from the direction of Goražde, confirmed Euroasfalt Sarajevo, which is the contractor in this part of the project.
In the past six months, all preparatory work has been completed. Euroasfalt has been intensively working on the construction of tunnel presections on the south from the direction of Goražde and on the north from Prača.
According to Enver Ajanović, a contractor for construction of the tunnel, these are very demanding works that have been successfully completed, thus creating the conditions to start drilling the main pipe of the tunnel. He adds that they will work in three shifts of eight hours each, and about one meter of tunnel will be dug per shift.
He emphasizes that the deadline for completion of the works is 2022 and that the Hranjen tunnel should be dug within that deadline, unless unforeseen circumstances arise, which could slow the process of work.
Ajanović recalled that the funds were provided in the amount of 82 million KM and the contract specified drilling of two tunnel pipes, main and service, both in the total length of 5,550 meters.
The 15.8-kilometer expressway construction project that will connect Sarajevo and Goražde is worth 190 million KM and is divided into two phases. The works of the second lot of the first phase will include the secondary coating and equipping of the tunnel and the construction of the half-profile expressway.
Building of road will reduce distance from the capital city of BiH to the city on Drina River from current 95.6 to 56 kilometers, and it will take only 45 minutes to get from Sarajevo to Goražde.
