TUZLA, September 4 (FENA) - British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Matthew Field visited today the STEM Academy of the eMPIRICA School of Computer Science and Business Communication in Tuzla, where he said that with the help of the British government, all primary schools in Tuzla Canton would be introduced to coding, critical thinking and problem solving within the 21st Century School Program.

“All this will be monitored by micro:bit device. Fortunately, the students of this academy will have nothing to learn in terms of using micro: bits,” Field said, adding that children who went through this program in other schools showed enviable results and that they quickly began teaching others.

He emphasized that the field of ICT is extremely important and that centers such as the STEM Academy are important in terms of talent discovery.

“Children and young people in these places are educated for the jobs of the future,” Field said, emphasizing that he met fantastic young people and children who are creative and driven.

The STEM Academy Leader Samra Mujačić said that the academy is providing non-formal education for children and young people in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) areas, which are expected to cover 85 percent of the world's occupations by 2025.

She added that the STEM Academy is preparing children to meet market demands in the age of the digital revolution.

“We are not just a school of programming, robotics or mathematics, we are a multidisciplinary school that uses the latest STEM technologies to develop digital literacy for children and the competencies that will be expected of them in the future,” said Mujačić.

So far, 250 children have graduated from the STEM academy, currently, 50 of them are attending, and they expect even more to join. The STEM Academy was launched two years ago in Tuzla, and since this year, it has been active in the Brčko District.
