Višković: It is unacceptable for radioactive landfill to be built at BiH border

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, September 3 (FENA) - Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Radovan Višković said today that one of the most important issues for RS is Croatia's intention to dispose radioactive waste at the location of Trgovska Gora, noting that it is unacceptable to build a landfill at the border with BiH, in the immediate vicinity of the Una River and the municipality of Novi Grad / Bosanski Novi.

Višković informed the newly appointed BiH Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, Aleksandar Vranješ, that the RS Ministry of Physical Planning, Engineering and Ecology is carrying out activities to declare Nature Park ‘Una’, which is additional reason that the landfill of radioactive waste in this area is unacceptable.

At a meeting in Banja Luka, the entity of RS Prime Minister and Vranješ discussed the start of the construction of the Sava Bridge in Bosanska Gradiška, as well as further activities related to the construction of the border crossing and access roads to the future bridge, the RS Government stated.

During the meeting, Višković emphasized the importance of economic cooperation, as well as the significant level of export from the RS to the Republic of Croatia.

Ambassador Vranješ emphasized that one of his goals will be to strengthen economic diplomacy.
