MOSTAR, September 2 (FENA) - Delegation of the Croatian National Assembly (HNS), led by President Dragan Čović, met on Monday in Mostar with delegation of the Association of Bosnian Croats "Prsten" (Ring), led by the president of that association, Pavo Zubak.
“We, as the Association of Bosnian Croats "Prsten" from Croatia are here to support Croatian people in BiH. There are about one and a half million people from Croatia who are of BiH origin,” Zubak said, adding that he was surprised that almost a year after elections no government has been formed in BiH yet.
Čović briefed the President of the Association on the stagnation in the process of government formation at all levels.
He said that the Chairman for a new convocation of the BiH Council of Ministers should be appointed urgently without any further delay.
“My position is that we should appoint the Chairman immediately and give a chance to new Council of Ministers of BiH, because we have already agreed other institutions. Everything concerning NATO and annual reports should be done without delay. Other issues should not block us from having a Council of Ministers, because we now have the chairman of the Council of Ministers and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly in the same person,” said Čović.
When asked if he still believes in the BiH government formation agreement signed by the presidents of SNSD, HDZ BiH and SDA, the president of HNS and HDZ BiH replied that he believes, though too much time has been wasted.
“I think we have wasted 26 or 27 days negotiating. The signature we put in the EU office in BiH was so powerful and with no open questions, that it was to be expected to end. We have no other way but to seek compromise. Our path is towards the EU, towards NATO, but we have to determine the dynamics of what is technical and what is a strategic issue,” Čović said.
