Employees in education sector in USC go on general strike

FENA Muhamed Sadiković

BIHAĆ, September 2 (FENA) – Employees in the education sector in the Una-Sana Canton (USC) have been on a general strike since this morning, therefore, as announced, the school year in this canton has not begun according to the plan and program. As reported by representatives of the unions of pre-school, primary and secondary education – going on general strike was conditioned by the unsuccessful negotiations with the USC Government, which did not fulfill their requirements.

The Collective Agreement signed in December 2017 has not been complied with the requirements nor fully implemented yet. First of all, the base for calculating salaries of education employees is not equalized with other budget beneficiaries, even though it is stated in the Collective Agreement. Past work service is not calculated as for other beneficiaries, and among other things, the provisions of the Labor Law to pay wages within 30 days are not respected only in education sector, it is said in a joint statement of the education unions.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister and members of the cantonal government emphasized that almost all the demands of the trade unions were accepted, but the employees in education sector do not understand it at this moment.
