SARAJEVO, August 25 (FENA) - Organizing committee of the first BiH Pride Parade announced that next week they will continue talks with the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior so that the Pride Parade can successfully contribute to building an open, inclusive and free BiH society.
“The police and the SC Ministry of Interior have proven numerous times that they have the professional and material capacity and sufficient knowledge and experience to provide far larger and more complex events than the BiH pride parade, from matches and concerts to larger events such as the Sarajevo Film Festival. They have confirmed this to us through a series of meetings we have had since April 1,” the organizing committee pointed out.
They want to inform political parties that every citizen of BiH - regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or sex characteristics - is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in the Constitution and laws, including the right to be protected from discrimination and violence, and the right to peaceful assembly.
Over the past five months, support from citizens in both private and public spheres has shown that BiH society is indeed ready to accept and support LGBTI people.
Organizing committee of the BiH Pride Parade will continue to cooperate with the institutions of the Sarajevo Canton, and calls on citizens to join the parade in Sarajevo on September 8 and "jointly end political play with the human rights of all of us".
