Berton: SC government brings back hope to BiH citizens

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 23 (FENA) -  Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Bruce Berton, paid a farewell visit today to the Ministry of Justice and Administration of the Sarajevo Canton and the Anti-Corruption and Quality Control Office.

Berton pointed out that activities of the new authorities in the Sarajevo Canton, especially in the area of combating corruption and strengthening public administration, show that things can be improved in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and hopes that this will be done in other parts of BiH as well.

The Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH noted that with its work, the Government of the Sarajevo Canton is bringing back hope to the citizens of this country, which is good, but also a responsibility for future activities.

Minister of Justice and Administration of the Sarajevo Canton Lejla Brčić said that the SC Government and the Ministry appreciate the efforts made by the OSCE Mission to BiH to promote democratic values, monitor and deepen human rights development, especially during Ambassador Berton's mandate.

“The support of the OSCE Mission in the implementation of the Law on Reporting and the Procedure for Data Verification on the Property of Public Position Holders in the Sarajevo Canton, as well as in numerous other activities was very significant. We extend our special thanks to Ambassador Berton, who expressed his true commitment to make life in BiH better for all its citizens. We hope it will remain so,” Brčić said.

The Head of the Anti-Corruption and Quality Control Office, Erduan Kafedžić, said today's meeting was one of the most important in his professional career.

“The OSCE Mission to BiH, with Ambassador Berton, was a strategic partner of the Office and certainly belongs to the credit for the significant successes made in the fight against corruption in the Sarajevo Canton, but also for the fact that this story is now being developed in others parts of BiH,” Kafedžić said in a statement for the Sarajevo Canton Press Service.
