Bevanda: For BiH’s future, it is necessary to find solution

FENA Press release

MOSTAR, August 22 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda believes it is very discouraging that, even 11 months after the general elections, the foundations of democratic society need to be indicated every day and that the process of forming a state government should have been completed long time ago.

"Forming a state government is a process that must have been completed a long time ago, but instead we came to a dead end. I will remind that the budget for 2019 has not been adopted yet and that the institutions of BiH are funded under the Interim Financing Decision, and I personally was the target of the attack of those who obstructed adoption of these documents, " Bevanda said in a statement which HDZ BiH announced.

He added that for almost a year, representatives of the Croat people have been calling for talks, agreements and compromise, because that is the only way to solve the problems in BiH.

"The Council of Ministers must be formed as soon as possible, with due regard to all the political options that the Council of Ministers represent," Minister Bevanda stressed.

He also commented on the Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the necessity of implementing the signed Agreement on Principles for Formation of Government, and called for the responsibility of those who deliberately obstruct these documents.

"NATO is our strategic foreign policy interest and Croatian politics is a strong advocate of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty, not only because of the security aspects, but also because of the financial and economic privileges that this membership brings. Take a look at the Czech Republic, which has raised its total GDP with the membership and is a perfect example of the overall privileges. There is no compromise on this issue at the moment, and the Croat people are very well aware of the consequences of imposing anything. There must be a common position on such important issues for the future of BiH," Bevanda concluded.

He estimated that the issue of the Annual National Program (ANP) was consciously and maliciously politicized, although it is a document that is only one part of the NATO accession process, and concluded that "in this political environment, with all the shortcomings of the political system, Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot become member of anything. "
