Wigemark: It is important now that everyone is engaged

BANJA LUKA, August 21 (FENA) - The Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative to BiH, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, said today he regrets that BiH Presidency session was not held yesterday and the new chairman of BiH Council of Ministers was not appointed.

“We understand that this is related to other issues, such as BiH's path to NATO, and it is important for us that both processes carry out smoothly. No one is talking about membership at the moment,” Ambassador Wigemark told reporters in Banja Luka.

He added that BiH's goal is EU membership, and as said on August 5, some additional decisions will be needed to address NATO.

“It is important now that everyone is engaged. Ten months have passed and the government has not been formed yet and one must bear in mind general interest of citizens living in both BiH entities,” said Wigemark.

He says the recent agreement on the principles of government formation reached by SDA, HDZ and SNSD leaders is a good starting point.

He personally thinks that there is practical solution to all the issues.

He also stated that he would like to encourage members of the BiH Presidency and all other political leaders in the country to be responsible, not to criticize one another and try to find solutions in the interest of all BiH citizens, because they were elected to find solutions.
