MoFA: BiH did not join EU sanctions against Russia

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 15 (FENA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected claims by media outlets that BiH has joined the EU's sanctions against Russia, noting that BiH's position on this issue remains unchanged.

BiH did not join the restrictive measures imposed on Russia in response to the annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol, nor the Declaration of the European Council of 20 June 2019 extending those measures, the Press Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

BiH’s Head of Mission to the EU in Brussels informed all diplomats in that diplomatic-consular mission on an instruction from the Ministry from April 15, 2019 explicitly stating that BiH cannot join these measures.

It is said in the statement that all members of the Mission have been asked to follow the Ministry's instruction and that BiH's position shall remain in force.
