SARAJEVO, August 15 (FENA) - National Assembly Speaker Nedeljko Čubrilović met today in Banja Luka with BiH's Principal Deputy High Representative, Michael Scanlan, to discuss the implementation of last year's elections and the formation of government at all levels, EU/NATO integration and other current political issues.
During the meeting, President Čubrilović emphasized that Republika Srpska is determined to implement reforms to accelerate the EU path and has shown, through timely formation of effective government, in accordance with the Election Law, that it is a more functional part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
President Čubrilović welcomed the agreement reached by the leaders of the leading political parties in BiH and expressed his expectation that joint bodies of government, and above all, the Council of Ministers of BiH, would be formed as soon as possible so that important decisions of interest to the RS would also be formed.
During today's meeting, it was emphasized that it is very important to achieve the full functionality of all levels of government, in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Constitution and positive legislation.
The need for strengthening the rule of law, creating a more favorable environment, more efficient economic development, and strengthening regional and European integrations, in order to create conditions for faster progress and a better standard of living in these areas, were particularly emphasized, said Čubrilović’s Office.
