TUZLA, August 15 (FENA) – Tuzla hosted today a lecture of the European Commission entitled "Your Opinion on the Opinion" which was held in Tuzla today. This event was organized by the European Commission throughout the cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at which citizens had the opportunity to express their views on Bosnia and Herzegovina's application for EU membership. Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative to BiH also discussed current political issues on this topic.
“One of the basic questions of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the issue of the rule of law, the work of the judiciary, the fight against corruption, which is an endemic phenomenon here. I also discussed this with the new Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton,” said Wigemark.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is on a very important path towards European integration, Wigemark believes.
“Member States will consider Bosnia and Herzegovina's path towards European integration. Certainly, one of the first questions of the member states will be whether the BiH government has been established at all levels. The state level is our main partner and there is no possibility of EU cooperation if we do not have partners at that level. There is no way we can work together to implement action plans and address problems if this issue is not addressed,” said Wigemark, who is leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH Lars-Gunar Wigemark also met with representatives of the Government of the Tuzla Canton today. The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton Denijal Tulumović.
