Alliance of Police Trade Unions urges the adoption of state budget

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) - The Alliance of Police Trade Unions in BiH requests the urgent adoption of the state budget.

In a letter to the deputies of the both Houses of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, the union urges them to adopt the budget law as soon as possible "in order not to get into the same situation as it was with the interim financing for the third quarter".

Based on the decision of the Council of Ministers, the budget draft includes the increase of the meal allowance from 6 to 8 KM for employees in the BiH institutions, which would not be possible without adopting the budget law.

According to the official data from the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, between 2010 and 2018, salaries increased by 9.2 percent, while in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina they decreased by 11.7 percent in 2012 and have not been changed since then.

Taking into account the reduction in the allowance for meals and holidays, as well as the new way of calculating travel costs, which is not in accordance with the law, the total income has been reduced by 17 percent to 25 percent.

If we look at the period from 2012 to 2018, the average salary of employees in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 7.5 percent, in RS by 3.5 percent, and for police officers in RS MoI by more than 20 percent.
