Croatian Ambassador met with Presidency advisers over Grabar-Kitarović statement

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 31 (FENA) - At the invitation of the Office of the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, a meeting of Advisers Branimir Jukić and Slaven Kovačević with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to BiH Ivan Sabolić was held today.

The reason for the meeting was the unacceptable statements by the President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, on Bosnia and Herzegovina during her visit to Israel given to Jerusalem Post.

Ambassador Sabolić stated the official position of the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia that the President’s statements were incorrect and that the President of the Republic of Croatia had never made such remarks.

Advisers to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina pointed out that it is too often the case of the President of the Republic of Croatia to give certain statements in the media, which are only subsequently denied, such as the statement on ten thousand extremists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that reactions to statements do not come only from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from Croatia.

The fact that the President took too long to deny the controversial statement in the media was also highlighted.

Ambassador Sabolić said he condemned and strongly protested all statements from BiH, and in particular the statement by BiH Presidency Member Šefik Džaferović, in which the controversial and “nonexistent” statement of the President of the Republic of Croatia was brought into the context of the Joint Criminal Enterprise ruling.
