Budimlić: All burden has fallen on Interior Ministry and Red Cross of Bihać

FENA Press release

BIHAĆ, July 29 (FENA) - By decision of the Bihać City Council, all illegal migrants who stayed in the streets of Bihać were moved to the location of Vučjak, where a temporary migrant camp was to be established in which services to migrants will be provided by the Red Cross of Bihać (RC Bihać) and other institutions under the jurisdiction of the City of Bihać.

For 46 days, the Red Cross Bihać, together with the Interior Ministry, has invested superhuman efforts to keep these people in Vučjak and to provide security to the citizens of Bihać.

“No one from the City Administration nor from the Operational Group or the USC Government came to visit and see the conditions for themselves. All the burden has fallen on the Interior Ministry and RC Bihać,” emphasizes the President of the Red Cross of Bihać Abdulah Budimlić.

He adds that they do not have any support, but in spite of that they do everything to improve migrants' living conditions.

Yesterday the streets near Vučjak were flooded and the vast majority of the tent area was flooded. The RC expresses concern over the coming autumn.

“If the rain is intense this coming fall, then tents will not be of any help. Not to mention the winter. What will happen then? All the immigrants will go to the city areas. The city administration must find a solution,” says Budimlić.

The RC of Bihać gets 40,000 KM from the City Administration and it is a regular tranche that is intended to pay two employees in this organization.
