SARAJEVO, July 24 (FENA) - The Info Center of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Creative Europe for BiH Bureau, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, presented today in Sarajevo the European Union programs "Creative Europe", "Europe for Citizens" and "Horizon 2020" on Info Day "From Idea to Goal - European Union Programs".

EU Info Center Representative Nicholas Bizel has said that these programs are an opportunity for BiH to access additional EU funds and work on development, reforms and strengthening of civil society capacity.

The Ministry of Justice’s Civil Society Development Advisor Goran Kučera presented the program “Europe for Citizens” and stressed that it is one of the easiest application programs.

“Today we presented the project and how to apply and we wanted to motivate citizens from BiH to participate in this project. ‘Europe for Citizens’ is very interesting for potential applicants from BiH, for non-profit organizations and local authorities, primarily because of a very simple application form and because apart from the project idea you only have to partner with some of the organizations from the European Union,” Kučera said.

He stressed that the goal of this program itself is to encourage Europe's citizens to reflect on common values such as peace, freedom, equality, justice and so on.

Creative Film Director Aida Kalender, who presented the “Creative Europe” program, emphasized that this program supports European cinematography and cultural activities, and creativity through a flexible and interdisciplinary approach and various forms of funding.

“’Creative Europe’ is a fund that has allocated the amount of 1.36 billion euros for the period from 2014 to 2020 for cultural projects and projects in the media field, and the media encompasses film, television and video games,” said Kalender.

The National Contact Person of the “Horizon 2020” program in BiH, Dalibor Drljača, said that this is the largest program in the world that finances science, research and innovation.

“Horizon 2020 works so that all the countries participating in this program give money to the joint fund and then compete who will take that money. BiH is a member of this program and as such pays its participation. Consequently, through these events we try to motivate people to participate more in these programs in order to return as much money as possible. We are currently at some 15 percent of the performance within this program and we have withdrawn over 50 percent of the funds invested,” Drljača said.

“Horizon 2020” is intended for universities, research centers and small and medium-sized enterprises, and for the period 2014-2020, the total budget of the program is 80 billion euros.
