GORAŽDE, July 22 (FENA) - In the first six months of this year, the influx of illegal migrants in the Podrinje Canton (BPC), region of Goražde decreased by 50 percent compared to the same period last year, confirmed the Head of the Office of the Commissioner of Police of the BPC MoI Emko Rizvanović.
According to him, the number of migrants in this part of BiH has increased in the last few days, and the situation with regards to the migrant issue is satisfactory in the canton.
“In the spring of 2018, we had a problem when the largest number of migrants in the Goražde region was registered, but this year the inflow is some 50 percent lower. From the beginning of 2019, we registered 94 illegal migrants in the BPC area, of whom seven were handed over to the Foreigners Affairs Service, and 87 of them were handed over to the BiH Border Police and returned to the territory of Montenegro or Serbia,” Rizvanović explained.
He added that members of the Goražde Police Administration are acting in accordance with the measures that have been applied for a long period of time. They also devised a special plan of measures and activities that are being implemented in order to prevent, but also reveal the presence of illegal migrants in the area of this canton.
“It is important to note that no criminal offense has been committed by migrants in the canton and Goražde area,” said Rizvanović.
