SARAJEVO, July 19 (FENA) - A new Law on veterans of war and members of their families will enter into force in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina after it is published in the FBiH Official Gazette.
“Under this Law, the veterans will be entitled to exercise a total of 16 different rights, including the right to living cost compensation. Veterans who are in need and who have 57 years of age are eligible under the new law. Also, the condition is that they served in the BiH Armed Forces for least 12 months and that they have been on the unemployment register for at least 12 months as well, without any other source of income. Each disabled war veteran who has a monthly income of less than 170 KM can apply for the benefits.
The law stipulates that the compensation will be in the amount of 5 KM for each month spent in the Armed Forces,” told FENA Minister for Veteran Affairs and Disabled Veterans of War Salko Bukvarević after the House of Peoples at yesterday’s session passed the law, and the same was done previously by the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.
He is convinced that this law will be signed as soon as possible by President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marinko Čavara, and then published in the Official Gazette so that it can officially enters into force.
“These benefits needed to be secured for those veterans who are now elderly citizens, but do not have enough years of service for pension and cannot exercise their right to a retirement,” noted Bukvarević.
After the revision of this year’s budget of FBiH, 25 million KM was secured for the implementation of this law.
