SARAJEVO, July 18 (FENA) - The Directorate-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR, Brussels) on Wednesday approved the start of the implementation of the preliminary design for the Southern Interconnection Bosnia and Herzegovina - Republic of Croatia (Zagvozd - Posušje - Novi Travnik, with a branch for Mostar), stated the enterprise BH-Gas.
The approval refers to the creation of a preliminary project and tender documentation under the EBRD rules and was granted to the Mott MacDonald Consortium within the Connect Project.
The project will be implemented on the basis of grants in the amount of around EUR 1 million, and based on the development of the documents expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2020, BH-Gas will begin the procedure for obtaining urban permits, equaling the level of documentation already prepared by the Croatian company Plinacro, and which, for its part of the connection towards BiH, back in 2018 has secured its location and urban building permit.
The company said that they would never agree with those who, due to their lack of understanding, disagree with the need for BiH to have an alternative gas supply, because the approval from the DG NEAR confirms the intentions of the EU institutions and bodies to meet the needs of BiH in the energy sector, and that they will continue to assist, help and direct BiH on its European path.
