SARAJEVO, July 16 (FENA) - An exhibition of contemporary Chinese painting titled "Ecstasy by a Brush", which is being held in Sarajevo, organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bosnia and Herzegovina, opened last night at the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

An unusual exhibition, which comes from a country whose fine arts tradition represents one of the oldest existing artistic traditions in the world, is an opportunity for BiH citizens to get acquainted with the creative potentials of Chinese art for the first time in the most direct way, and in the concrete case – with new paintings by the painters of the Chinese National Fine Arts Academy.

These works fall under the umbrella of the medium of Chiense ink created on the trail of the formation of a new value system in contemporary Chinese painting, which relies on the creative synthesis of traditional culture and the basic characteristics of contemporary art.

On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in BiH, Zhou Yan, said that this exhibition of Chinese paintings is one in a series of cultural events organized on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

At the same time, it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and BiH.

She reminded that the relations between the two countries in the context of the "Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation within the "17 + 1" platform are rapidly evolving, stressing that good bilateral relations are based on good understanding and cultural exchange.

Yan also underlined that trade and economic cooperation are important in terms of further development of relations, but also that cultural exchange and the strengthening of understanding between peoples are a backbone of progress in strengthening the all-round cooperation.

She assessed that cultural events, despite geographical distance, are an opportunity for getting to know each other better and she announced new visits by Chinese artists from the film and music industry.

The exhibition was organized by the Chinese National Fine Arts Academy, and its visit to the capital of BiH was made possible by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
