SARAJEVO, July 7 (FENA) - The EU4Business project, financed by the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, under which UNDP conducts activities related to the agriculture and food sector and rural development, announced the first public call to potential beneficiaries of grants at the beginning of February 2019 as a measure of support to farmers (primary production).
A total of 93 project proposals were submitted. After that, the commission did the scoring and selected the ten most promising ones.
Farm from Gradačac, Pelagićevo, Šamac, Bijeljina, Kozarska Dubica, Prnjavor, Livno, Prijedor, Odžak and Han Pijesak will have the opportunity to work on modernization of production, increase of productivity of agricultural holdings and strengthening of competitiveness through the introduction of new technologies and innovations in the processes of primary production, improving the quality of products, hygiene and food safety, and introducing good practices in the management of natural resources and environmental protection, as well as opening up new market opportunities.
The total available funds for financing the support to investments in agricultural farms amounts to 1,618,000 KM, while the total of investments that amount to 2,956,000 KM, will be supported through ten projects, of which the EU will support with 1,618,000 KM, while the users will invest 1,338,000 KM, announced the UNDP.
Under the EU4Business project, UNDP by the end of the year will announce two more public calls to support agricultural producers. The first (end of July 2019) is intended to support processing plants, while the other (December 2019) is intended to support small agricultural producers through the implementation of local development strategies.
