Sven Alkalaj presents his credentials to the UN Secretary General Guterres

NEW YORK/SARAJEVO, July 7 (FENA) - Permanent representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations in New York Ambassador Sven Alkalaj handed over the letters of credence to UN Secretary-General Anton Guterres at the UN headquarters in an official ceremony.

Guterres expressed expectations that he would continue the successful cooperation with the ambassador of BiH which begun at the time while Alkalaj was Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, as well as some other high-level posts in the United Nations in Geneva.

He also expressed hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina would continue to actively participate in the work of the UN and its bodies, especially bearing in mind the positive results BiH has achieved during its mandate in the UN Security Council.

Alkalaj also expressed BiH's readiness to provide an active contribution to the work of the United Nations in the fight against violent extremism and hate speech.

He urged Guterres to visit BiH and other countries in the region in order to further improve relations among the countries of the Western Balkans and to improve the cooperation of the countries of the region with the United Nations, stated the  Public Affairs Office of the BiH MFA.
