SARAJEVO, July 7 (FENA) - The Museum of Crimes against Humanity and Genocide in Sarajevo today welcomed a group of members of the Dutch UN battalion and war veterans. On this occasion, they presented to the museum a video camera they had used in 1994 in Srebrenica to make videos which were then broadcast on Dutch television at that time.
One of the members of the group, Serge Janssen, who preserved the video camera, visits the Museum each year with his family and friends.
Director of the Museum Suada Nožić and one of the founders of the Museum, Jasmin Mešković said that Janssen has already donated valuable items including a military uniform and boots in which he first came to Srebrenica in the first half of 1994, as well as photos, documents, etc.
"It is good that the UN soldiers who were stationed in BiH today come to BiH, they talk about what really happened from 1992 to 1995. We are encouraged that this year especially, a large number of members of various international forces have come to the Museum of Crimes against Humanity and Genocide in Sarajevo, as well as the Museum of Victims of War and Genocide in Mostar. They come and they bring their war items, stores, testimonies, and they come here with their friends and colleagues," said Mešković.
The video camera that he managed to preserve to this day, Janssen considers to be a part of history, and that it would be best to hand it over to the Museum.
"We used the camera every day, recording daily life in Srebrenica, and the footage would be broadcast on Dutch television at that time. The thing I remember the most are the conversations I had with the children, "Janssen said.
