Božić and Hastor sentenced to total of six and a half years on terrorism charges

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 4 (FENA) - The BiH State Court has found Maksim Božić and Edin Hastor guilty of planning to commit a terrorist attack in East Sarajevo and Tuzla and sentenced them to a total of six and a half years in prison.

Božić and Hastor were found guilty that, as members of the radical Salafi movement, they acquired weapons and explosives in contact with other people, and planned and prepared an execution of a terrorist attack in the territory of BiH.

Božić was sentenced to four years, and Hastor to two and a half years in prison, BIRN reports.

“They planned and prepared an attack on the building of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in East Sarajevo and the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton” the verdict states.

The indictment against Božić and Hastor was filed in July 2018, and the accused pleaded not guilty one month later.

After a year of trial, in closing arguments at the end of June this year, the BiH Prosecutor's Office requested a conviction for Christmas and Hastor, while the Defense proposed that both of them be acquitted.

The judgment is subject to an appeal.
