String Orchestra of Sarajevo Music Academy opens 24th Baščaršija Nights Festival

SARAJEVO, July 2 (FENA) - The 24th edition of the festival "Baščaršija Nights" officially opened at the Bosnian Cultural Center in Sarajevo last evening with a concert of the String Orchestra of the Sarajevo Music Academy.

The audience had a chance to hear performances by professors, former and current students of the Music Academy, who perform works by great composers such as Gustav Holst St. Paul, Edward Grieg, Johann Sebastian Bach and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

During this traditional event that takes places every year in Sarajevo, which will run from 1 July to 31 July, 26 programs will be presented, featuring international performers and artists from BiH, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Indonesia and Iran.

The festival includes most of the activities in the field of culture and art - classical, pop and rock music, theater performances, concerts of folklore ensembles, art exhibitions and exhibitions of calligraphic works, and various music content and performing arts for children.

The sponsor of the Festival is the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton and entry to all the programs will be free of charge.
