SARAJEVO, June 25 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina is not yet ready to become a member of the European Union, and a series of reforms in almost all areas need to be implemented in order to get closer to the EU, unnamed representatives of the EU Office in BiH said.
This is one of the conclusions of today's discussion of the European Commission's Opinion on BiH's application for EU membership, based on the thousands of responses from the Questionnaire, which identified 14 key priorities ahead of BiH.
As it was pointed out, it was very clearly stated in the Opinion that BiH hasn’t reached a level that can be considered as a good level of preparation or a highly advanced level of preparation in regard to the acquis communautaire.
Authorities of BiH need to adopt the Action Plan for implementation of these measures, it was stated in Sarajevo today and unnamed representatives of the EU Office in BiH said that BiH is the only country that wants to be a member of the EU without a state program for harmonizing laws with the acquis communautaire.
As concluded, after 19 years of negotiations with the European Union, compliance with specific regulations in BiH is still at an early stage.
