SARAJEVO, June 3 (FENA) - This year's veterinary incentives approved by the FBiH Government in the amount of 2.5 million KM have enabled the control of the health status of animals, primarily dairy cattle and their female offspring and testing for tuberculosis, brucellosis and enzootic leukosis.

"Control of these diseases is necessary in order to continue the steady export of milk and dairy products to the European Union market. This aspect amounts to the largest part of the incentive," confirmed in the interview with FENA, Head of Department for Protection of People and Animals of the FBiH Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, Marijo Vrebac.

Also, the funds provided are allocated for the official sampling of food of animal origin. In this regard, he points out that veterinary inspectors will, in accordance with a plan that will be adopted by the Ministry, visit the facilities in which the production of foods items of animal origin is made, and conduct official sampling.

They will also implement the Plan for the official sampling of feces of live poultry for the presence of Salmonella in approved and registered labs.

Also, the funds are envisaged for procurement of diagnostic tests, which would be used in the event a disease is present in the region, and not registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and whose occurrence could cause significant economic damage.

Vrebac adds that the results of the diagnostic examination for infectious diseases show an epizootiological situation in the Federation of BiH and enable timely measures in order to suppress, prevent the spread and eradicate infectious diseases.
