SARAJEVO, May 24 (FENA) - The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina is aware of the allegations of the involvement of Milan Tegeltija, President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH in corruption affairs.

In a statement to FENA, the Embassy reiterated that an independent judiciary is the foundation of any democratic society, and that all, and especially senior justice officials, should uphold the highest standards in performing their duties.

They expressed expectation that the allegations about the involvement of the HJPC President Milan Tegeltija in corruption affairs would be promptly and thoroughly investigated, told FENA the US Embassy's Public Affairs Office.

At the same time, the Office of the High Representative in BiH told FENA that they did not want to comment on this case and that there are competent institutions that are to deal with it.

Investigative journalism portal "Žurnal" has published a video that links Tegeltia with corruption and trading in influence in connection to ongoing investigations. President of HJPC BiH denies these allegations claiming that it all an attempt to discredit him.
