Indictment confirmed in Gavrilo Stević case for foreign fighting in Ukraine

SARAJEVO, May 20 (FENA) - On 5 April 2019, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment in the case of Gavrilo Stević, charging the accused Gavrilo Stević with the criminal offense of Illegal Establishment and Joining Foreign Paramilitary or Parapolice Formations under Article 162b), Paragraph 2, of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH).

The indictment alleges that the accused Gavrilo Stević, as a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 8 July 2014, in violation of Article 2 and 3 of the Law on Service in the Armed Forces of BiH, left the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and travelled to Moscow from the Nikola Tesla international airport in Belgrade, and then on to Ukraine.

In the city of Rostov, the area of Lugansk, together with other persons from BiH and Serbia, the accused joined as a volunteer and became a member of the paramilitary formation Detachment-Unit Jovan Šević, which operated against Ukraine’s legitimate forces. According to the indictment, the accused was issued a uniform and fire arms, performed various military duties and was an active member of the unit until mid-September 2014, stated the BiH Court.
