Traditional event ‘European Film Days’ opens in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, May 16 (FENA) - The annual event European Film Days in BiH opened tonight at the Meeting Point Cinema in Sarajevo.

The festival is organized by the Network of State Institutes of Culture of the European Union Member States in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUNIC) under the chairmanship of the Goethe Institute and the European Union Info Center in BiH.

Chargé d'Affairs of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, Khaldoun Sinno said at the opening that this event has become traditional within the European Week, celebrating European culture in the days of May 9 - Europe Day.

“Our goal is to show the richness of culture within the members of the European Union, that we belong culturally together, because Bosnia and Herzegovina is equally part of Europe are the other EU member states,” said Sinno.

He added that cultural engagement is equally important for the EU Delegation to BiH, as well as its engagement in the rule of law and in politics.

Director of Goethe Institute in BiH, Martin Schumacher said it was an impressive venture to collect films from ten EU member states all in an effort to demonstrate unity in diversity.

The European Film Days last until May 26, all screenings start at 8.00 p.m. with entry being free of charge. All films have subtitles on B/C/S languages and in English.
