BIHAĆ, May 16 (FENA) - The Communications Team of the City of Bihać presented a section of the data on the situation with migrants and refugees for the past year at today's press conference. It was pointed out that since the end of April last year, 10,240 migrants and refugees were registered in the area of the City of Bihać.

"Since the beginning of the migrant crisis in our city, or since April 24, last year, 1.356.000 meals have been prepared. Every day, we provide three meals and hygienic supplies to the users of temporary accommodation centers in Bira and Borići. So far, we have spent 1,998,297 KM.

At the beginning, 15 volunteers were hired, now this is already a figure of 60 people," said the Red Cross President of the City of Bihać, Abdulah Budimlić.

Deputy Commander of the Bihać Police Administration, Elvedin Omanović, stressed that 50 persons were deported last year who were staying on the territory of this city.

"In 2018, there were 413 criminal offenses, of which 75 were committed by migrants. 492 violations of public peace and order were noted, and migrants participated in 34 such events. These were mostly thefts, home intrusions, serious theft, violent behavior, seizure of other people's property, endangering security, lascivious behavior and acts, attempted rape and attempted murder. Migrants have committed 43 offenses in the past year,"Omanović explained.

The Center for Social Work in Bihać provided data that over the past year, guardians have been appointed for 497 unaccompanied minors, while at the Temporary Reception Center, there are currently around 250 minors of this category.

Representatives of the City of Bihać Communications Team announced the recent start of the preparation works for the selected location at Vučjak for relocation of migrants and refugees from the city center.

"The activities could start as early as tomorrow. Perhaps we could have begun earlier, but weather conditions did not allow us. We are rapidly looking for donors, but if we do not find them, it is our duty, because such a decision has been made by the City Council. Our goal is to accommodate newly arrived migrants to this temporary center, but also to close the Bira Interim Center within a few months," said the leader of the Communications Team and Advisor to the Mayor of Bihać, Edin Moranjkić.
