SARAJEVO, May 14 (FENA) - A twinning project of the European Union "Strengthening and Further Support to Parliaments in BiH in the process of EU Integration" was presented today to the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH.
“We are pleased that this project will continue in 2019, and I expect us to focus on the establishment of certain units, that is, the institute within both houses of the FBiH Parliament, which will help harmonize the FBiH legislation with the legislation of the European Union,” said the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH Parliament Tomislav Martinović.
Zoltán Horváth, Head of the Technical Assistance Team of the National Assembly of Hungary, told FENA that the project aims to strengthen all parliaments in BiH - the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska and the Brčko District Assembly.
“Also, the aim of the project is cooperation among the parliaments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while a new thing that it brings is that, for the first time, this project also includes the cantonal assemblies, which will be actively involved in the implementation of tasks in the process of integration into the European Union,” said Horváth.
The said project will provide support to the technical capacities of the parliaments for an efficient process of harmonization of legislation in BiH.
