BANJA LUKA, May 12 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik said today that the decision to abolish the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) was a mistake and was done under the pressure of an international factor to form the Armed Forces of BiH.
He stressed that the decision of the National Assembly of RS on military neutrality will be fully respected.
Dodik said that the decision of the RS Parliament from 2017 should be respected and "RS has decided to be outside of any military alliance, both in the east and in the west."
"We will not allow anybody to compromise the decisions of the National Assembly of RS," said Dodik, speaking today in the Banja Luka Kozara barracks, at the central ceremony marking the Day of the Third Infantry Regiment of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Day of the "Army of RS".
He also says he will respect the Constitution of BiH, but also adds that, as far as he is concerned, "to the members of the Third Infantry Regiment (RS) of the Armed Forces of BiH, who have inherited the tradition of the former RS Army, the Supreme Command is in Banja Luka".
Dodik argues that "the RS Army lives in the hearts and souls of the Serbs and that there will always be capable members of the Third Infantry Regiment to defend the freedom of RS and its people," and that he will always support their demands.
He asked the commander of the regiment "to organize that the members wear the uniform of the former RS Army at the marking next year because it is their day."
He reiterated that if the Serbs do not have RS they will have no freedom.
The ceremonies at Kozara barracks, which began with the salutation to the BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik, and the anthems of BiH and RS, were also attended by Minister of Defense of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin and the Chief of General Staff of the Army of Serbia General Milan Mojsilović.
