FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 12 (FENA) - The play "Looking for Europe", written and performed by French writer and philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, will be staged for the audience in Sarajevo at the National Theater in Sarajevo on Monday, 13 May, beginning at 9:15 p.m.

For more than four decades, Lévy has been a unique figure on the world stage and one of the voices of the morality of our time.

The "Looking for Europe" play, being staged just weeks before European parliamentary elections, speaks of contemporary Europe and the danger it faces due to the rise of nationalism and populism. The play is a call to all who advocate for democracy in order to disperse the demons of totalitarianism, war, and poverty and it places European values of humanism and inclusion in the forefront, with Bosnia as a leading example of coexistence and liberalism.

The play is part of a tour and a campaign for Europe that travels through 20 European cities. From March 5 to May 21, 2019, Bernard-Henri Lévy traveled across the continent and performed his play in European capitals and cities of historical importance.

In every city, the text of the play is harmonized with the specific context of the country in which it is performed, but its loyalty and commitment to Bosnia is a constant topic of the play.

"The citizens of Sarajevo have given to the world the best examples of resistance and greatness. It's something priceless. That is the meaning of this play and its substance. Because of this, the play I carry from city to city contains the name of Sarajevo inscribed in the heart of it. I sang it, and screamed it on all stages in Europe - we are all endlessly indebted to the inhabitants and the spirit of Sarajevo. For this reason and my longstanding relationship with Bosnia, I am deeply honored to be back on May 13 and perform for you," said Bernard-Henri Lévy about his upcoming performance.
