FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 24 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegović, met today with a delegation comprised of representatives of the social, political and religious life of the Islamic Republic of Iranian, which, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in BiH, was led by Ayatolah Seyed Javad Shahrestani.

The two sides pointed out that the overall relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran are at a very high level, and that this visit means strengthening and intensifying the already good existing ties between the peoples of the two countries.

They jointly condemned every form of violence in the world trying to be justified by religious motives.

Speaker of the House, Izetbegović emphasized that the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, even in the most difficult times of war, defended all religious buildings and churches.

Therefore, progressive forces in the world must make joint efforts in order for radicalism and violent extremism to be stopped and in order to defeat them. It is a very serious and painstaking job that requires the engagement of all parties that advocate for peace and coexistence, stated the BiH PA.
