SARAJEVO, April 23 (FENA) - The Security Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina today held an extraordinary session in order to deliberate on the response of the Federation of BiH to the announcement of the formation of a reserve police force of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, and has concluded that the aforementioned activities are to be immediately and definitely suspended by representatives of the international community, above all the OHR, because of the direct threat to citizens’ safety.

“This is a direct violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. If these activities are not stopped, the Federation of BiH will have to take adequate measures,” stated the Chairman of the Committee, Damir Mašić after the session.

In the second conclusion, the Committee has requested the competent institutions to conduct an assessment of the security and political situation in the country.

Also, the Committee has called on the FBiH Government and has recommended to cantonal governments to fill up the currently empty positions in the active police force in accordance with the Rulebook on Internal Organization and Systematization of Workforce in the Police.

"It is important that this is done as soon as possible, preferably in the next six months," said Interior Minister Čampara.

He added that it is not good to bring unrest and uncertainty among citizens of the Federation of BiH with the announcements on the formation of the said units.

“We will see what will happen, and probably the Federation of BiH will be forced to the same,” said Minister Čampara after the session.

In addition to the members of the Committee and the departmental ministers, the session was also attended by Deputy Director of the FBiH Police Administration Ensad Korman and representatives of international organizations, among whom were representatives of the OHR, OSCE, the US Embassy in BiH and the EU Delegation to BiH.
