SARAJEVO, April 18 (FENA) - British Ambassador Matthew Field handed over IT equipment to five BiH law enforcement agencies, as part of a four-year UK project supporting policing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The equipment includes IT hardware and software, to help the agencies to build standardized platform to record and analyze criminal intelligence and use it to efficiently solve crimes.
The equipment handover is part of a UK-funded project, supporting SIPA, the Border Police, Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior, the Federation Police Administration and the Brcko District Police.
The projects aims to support these agencies to implement an intelligence-led approach to policing, helping them to tackle serious crimes including organized crime and terrorism.
The project includes training and mentoring, institutional support and provision of equipment, with the support of UK policing experts.
“Supporting BiH’s police to ensure a safe environment for citizens is a priority for the UK. This equipment and the other support provided through the UK-funded intelligence-led policing project aim to help policing agencies to work together to prevent, investigate and prosecute crime quickly and effectively based on accurate, well-analyzed information. This project is part of a wider program of UK support for rule of law in BiH, including projects working with courts and prosecution,” said Ambassador Field following the event.
