Stjepan Mesić the Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, April 19 (FENA) - Former president of Croatia Stjepan Mesić received yesterday recognition as the Honorary Citizen of the City of Sarajevo, which was handed to him by Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka and Chairman of the City Council Igor Gavrić.

"I am happy to be here today. If you remember there was a misunderstanding with Orhan Pamuk, one of the greatest authors. However I spoke with Mr. Pamuk and he congratulated me, adding he is happy to meet with me some day. After that I informed the administration of the City of Sarajevo that we can do the ceremony," said Mesić.

Stjepan Mesić is Croatian politician who was the second president of the Republic of Croatia during two mandates and president of the first government of the Republic of Croatia, president of the second assembly of Croatian Parliament from 1992 to 1994 and former president of presidency of SFRJ.
