Dodik: BiH must give up the idea of cheap labor force, it was a mistake

SARAJEVO, April 17 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik said today at the opening of the Sarajevo Business Forum that BiH must give up cheap labor, which has been a big mistake, because this has only encouraged people to leave the country in search for better conditions on the job market.

Dodik said that only accelerated development can push us away from all kinds of destabilization, and one of the biggest problems at the moment is the departure of the population, “not only because of our inabilities but also because of the strategies of Western countries to attract high-quality labor force.”

"We need jobs that are well paid because people here do not want to be poor, to work for small salaries, but they want to be emancipated people who want to improve professionally and be well paid," Dodik said.

He added that BiH is a complex country composed of two entities that makes political life more difficult, but it is a country stable for business and investments, able to secure a stable future.

Dodik said that BiH came out of the period when it needed humanitarian aid, as well as reconstruction assistance, and now it need development aid that should be in mutual interest - for those who invest their money here to have security, and for us to secure safe and prospective jobs.

"The main priority for BiH is the accession to the EU and this idea has gathered all the political actors, which does not mean that we should be closed for cooperation with countries from other parts of the world, thus we will continue to cooperate with Turkey, Malaysia, Morocco, China and Russia," Dodik said at the opening of SBF 2019.
