SARAJEVO, April 16 (FENA) - The United States Embassy in BiH is aware of the fact that the Government of RS has supported the proposed amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs that could be used to form a reserve force of the RS police, therefore it will seek additional information on the purpose of this unit.
The Public Relations Office of the US Embassy in BiH told FENA that they would ask for the information especially given the fact that some of the competencies fall outside the scope of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska.
The Embassy emphasized that the United States supports the development of professional police agencies at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina that respect their specific competencies, effectively coordinate activities with other security agencies and act properly in accordance with the law, without any political influence.
With the above-mentioned law, the Government of RS strives to establish formal legal conditions for the establishment of a reserve police force due to various security challenges, and stipulates that "the reserve police will have the same powers as the regular police in accordance with the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, in order to achieve the maximum level of security for persons and property especially in the period when the intensity of the migrant crisis is expected to increase."
