BANJA LUKA, April 12 (FENA) - The entity of RS President Željka Cvijanović said today that it is not her intent to diminish the gravity of the crimes or the suffering of the Bosniak people in Srebrenica, “but that the suffering of all other people in that area needs to be observed and documented.”
She added that, “we have to point out to the selective approach to justice and the application of various laws when pronouncing war crimes convictions in BiH.”
At a break of the conference in Banja Luka that was held today on the topic "Srebrenica, reality and manipulation", she said that such events, as well as the work of the Commission for the Investigation of the suffering of all the peoples in Srebrenica between 1992 and 1995, established by the Government of RS, should indicate all the relevant facts.
The intent of this conference is not to diminish any war crimes or to seek any justification for them, but to point out that the situation in Srebrenica cannot be viewed by isolating only a specific time period and ignoring the fact that for several years, from 1992 until 1995, other terrible crimes were committed. In these horrible crimes we have Bosniak victims, then we have those who are unaccounted as victims, or they are not recognized as victims,” said Cvijanović.
She added that the families of Serb victims, 24 years after the war, have still not received any satisfaction or justice, and that there have been no judgments, other than the acquitting ones.
The organizers of the event are the association of commanders of the former Army of RS, the Independent University of Banja Luka and the Institute for the research of the suffering of the Serb people in the 20th century.
