SARAJEVO, 10 April (FENA) - The FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić met today with the US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson to discuss the upcoming 5th Energy Summit, which will be held from 16 to 18 April in Neum.
This is a continuation of a successful dialogue in the energy sector, organized and financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The main topic of the Summit will be energy transition, the electricity and gas markets, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, which are key topics for the development of the energy sector in BiH.
The Blok 7 project of the Thermal Power Plant in Tuzla was discussed as the most important investment at the level of the Federation of BiH, whose construction should begin in the next 60 days.
The Block 7 will be built with state-of-the-art and modern technology equipment and will meet all European standards of environmental protection.
Regarding the regulations in the field of gas, Minister Džindić emphasized that the engagement of the US Embassy, USAID and the Council of Ministers of BiH is necessary, in order for this law to be first adopted at the state level of BiH and later harmonized at entity levels.
The two officials also exchanged opinions on testing and exploitation of oil and oil derivatives in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which there has been great interest of international corporations.
The US Ambassador gave support to the ministry's plans and projects, primarily when it comes to capital projects for the development of the energy sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the FBiH Government’s Public Relations Office.
