BiH MCA: Secondary students of RS used for political purposes

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 10 (FENA) - Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH strongly condemns actions of former volleyball player of Serbia and president of the Alliance for School Sports of Serbia Željko Tanasković, who used secondary school students of Republika Srpska for political purposes, because, as he himself stated publicly, as president of the board in the International Sport Federation he managed to lobby for secondary students from Republika Srpska to play under the flag of RS as an independent state at the ISF World Schools Championship Football, which is being held in Belgrade.

Ministry emphasized in a press release that it is scandalous to "continue presenting politics of a smaller BiH entity and the Republic of Serbia towards Bosnia and Herzegovina through youth and sport".

"Young people of Republika Srpska cannot represent one entity at a competition which gathers internationally recognized countries of the world. This raises a question and responsibility of the International School Sport Federation which allowed this interference of politics. Therefore, Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH sent a protest letter expressing our concern and disappointment over the situation they created and we call them to take responsibility because whether intentionally or not they questioned integrity of BiH as the internationally recognized state," Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH stated.
