SARAJEVO, April 4 (FENA) - Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić reminded today of the initiative he spoke about on several occasions, which is building capacity of state institutions involved in BiH border control, in the context of increased number of migrants entering BiH.

Ahead of today's session of the BiH Council of Ministers, where state ministers should be informed about the latest information on this issue, Mektić noted that BiH lacks human resources for adequate control of the state border at locations used by illegal migrants.

Still, he emphasized, there is limitation on employment due to financial resources, especially due to the fact that the amount of budget of BiH institutions has not been increased for years.

He commented on announcements that state border will be blocked, stating he would prefer the border to be closed to prevent illegal migration, but capacity is also a problem in that area.

"I have nothing against protection of the border, but the state institutions, including the BiH Presidency, should agree on a unified stance and secure financial resources," he added.

Existing capacity of institutions is being restructured, so additional number of police officers have been engaged to support the BiH Border Police. Financial resources are needed to strengthen BiH Border Police with technical capacity that should help border control.

Commenting on investigation of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH within the intelligence affair of Croatia in BiH, which included Mektić's questioning, he said he does not know who requested the investigation, adding that there has not been any investigation, apart from the Prosecutor's Office being led by private motive.

He added that the issue for him is that Security Intelligence Agency of the Republic of Croatia has acted within BiH in two cases.
