SARAJEVO, March 18 (FENA) - At today’s meeting of the Operational HQ for the issue of migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina held in Sarajevo, it was noted that, at the moment, there are about 3,800 migrants in the reception centers and that BiH with the current number of migrants is capable of managing these processes.

The operational HQ analyzed the current situation with migrants and the measures taken to prevent new illegal entries in BiH.

Chairman of the HQ and Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić informed the participants of the meeting about the decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH for the coordination of the work of all centers in the Una-Sana Canton to be transferred to the Service for Foreigners' Affairs.

In the coming period, the new rules of procedure will be adopted for the functioning of reception centers that will limit the exit and movement outside the centers in night time, which will also improve the security situation in the places where these centers are located, stated the Ministry of Security of BiH.

It was also noted that the BiH Border Police has done an analysis of the necessary additional police officers to better control the eastern border and prevent the entry of illegal migrants, which the BiH Council of Ministers will soon be informed about.

The meeting also pointed to the need for more active involvement of the judiciary in the prosecution and detention of migrants who committed crimes in the territory of BiH.

Also, some cases of problems of treating migrants with severe illnesses have been pointed out and representatives of an international organization responsible for paying expenses to local health centers and hospitals will be invited to the next meeting of the operational HQ.
