SARAJEVO, March 14 (FENA) - Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić and the U.S. Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson met in Sarajevo yesterday and discussed key political and security challenges for BiH and future areas of cooperation between the two states.
Mektić said that establishment of rule of law, that is, independent and efficient judiciary, is the biggest challenge for BiH, which is a condition for adequate fight against widespread corruption, which rejects foreign investors and encourages young people to leave BiH.
Ambassador Nelson said this year is very important for joint engagement of the USA and EU to make progress in this area.
Mektić said that significant results have been achieved in BiH in fight against terrorism over the past few years and he emphasized good cooperation with partner agencies in the USA.
Minister Mektić informed Ambassador Nelson about current situation with migrants and plans to confront the expected wave of illegal migrants, firstly by increasing number of police officers and procurement of modern technology for more efficient control and supervision of eastern border of BiH, Ministry of Security of BiH stated.
