Serb ex-soldier Lazar Mutlak charged with wartime rape in Goražde area

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 11 (FENA) - Former Territorial Defense fighter Lazar Mutlak has been charged before court for raping and sexually abusing a Bosniak woman in the Goražde area in 1992.

The BiH state prosecution on Monday filed an indictment charging Lazar Mutlak, alias Lazo, with raping a female civilian during the war in Gorazde in eastern Bosnia.

“In his capacity as member of the headquarters of the Territorial Defense in Srpsko Goražde, Mutlak committed the rape and sexual abuse of a Bosniak woman, using force and death threats against the victim, on May 25, 1992, which left severe and permanent physical and mental consequences for the victim,” the prosecution’s indictment alleges.

The village of Srpsko Goražde’s name was changed to Novo Goražde after the war.

The indictment has been filed to the state court for confirmation, BIRN reports.
