SARAJEVO, March 7 (FENA) - The overall export of organic agricultural products from BiH has been increasing each year and there is a great demand for them on the global market, meaning that BiH has good chances to capitalize on its potentials in this sector, it was stressed today in Sarajevo at the conference "Investments in the development of organic production for the international market".

The conference was organized by the Association of Organic Producers in the Federation of FBiH - Organic FBiH and Biopharm International Consortium, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of BiH (PKFBiH).

According to the President of the Organic FBiH, Sejad Herceg, the conference is part of their activities in the expansion and development of organic agricultural production in BiH and the region.

Herceg emphasized partner relations with Biopharm International Consortium as an investor that will contribute to the development of production in a three-year, or five-year plan.

“At the conference in November last year, we signed an agreement on the expansion and development of organic production, and today we are signing an agreement on investing in the organic agricultural production ‘Herceg’, worth 300,000 KM.

Biopharm Int. Consortium will work on the development, expansion, promotion and investment in organic agriculture throughout BiH,” said Herceg.

The FBiH has adopted laws on organic agricultural production, and this support, as Herceg added, is already visible, and the cantons also support the certification of organic producers.

He noted that the exact number of organic producers in BiH is not yet known because there are no registers in the entities, but it is estimated that there are about 70 organic producers in FBiH alone.

The conference is also attended by representatives of the European Entrepreneurship Network (EEN), placing the focus on regional networking in this sector and the development of final products for the international market.

Vice President of the PKFBiH, Mirsad Jašarspahić said that such conferences are a good opportunity for joint activities on promoting and seeking new investment opportunities and new markets for strengthening organic production in BiH.

“The organic production story can only be viewed regionally if we want to create something big here in Wester Balkans, and we believe that organic production and high quality products can be a brand of the entire region,” said Jašarspahić.
